History has a habit of losing the people who changed it most.
The figures honored in the Embodiment of Pride, a part of the Identité et Humanité collection, stood at the forefront of the LGBTQIA+ movement at a time when doing so required a courage most of us will never be asked for. They were erased from textbooks, pushed to the margins of the movements they built, and in some cases taken before the world was ready to see them clearly.
We are making space to see them now.
Take time with each portrait below. Read their stories. Understand what they carried and what they built and what it cost them. Then, when you're ready, explore the collection they inspired.
We don't wear our Pride colors only in June. This collection lives here year-round — because their legacy does too.
